Adults
Life involves lots of changes, there can be ups and downs, we grow as human beings and different stresses and pressures can emerge. We may fear failure, doubt ourselves and experience upsetting life events which can be difficult to cope with.
I provide psychological therapy that is bespoke and tailored to you. I am trained in a number of different evidenced based therapies and can draw upon these to adapt my approach to fit with what will be most helpful for you.
Therapy is a collaborative process and collaboration is one of the determining factors for success. We will talk in detail about what you want and work together to help you to get there.
There are many benefits to engaging in psychological therapy. It can create new ways of looking at difficult problems and help people to move towards possible solutions. Talking to someone impartial can help with dealing with issues in life that are causing stress, upset and sadness. Working out what you want, prioritising yourself, being assertive and learning new strategies for dealing with difficult situations and events are important life skills.
Psychological therapy can help people to gain a better understanding of themselves by identifying patterns in their feelings, thoughts, and beliefs in order to gain insight into their current self. Reflecting upon why we are the way that we are and considering why we may struggle with certain things more than others can be really useful.
There is evidence that childhood and early life experiences can have a big influence on psychological development and how we live our lives. Becoming more self aware and beginning to understand how thoughts, feelings and beliefs can be related to past experiences can be helpful in beginning to understand things in a different way.
Engaging in psychological therapy can be the first positive step towards reducing stress, enhancing well-being and improving mood and mental health.

Couples
When it comes to relationships, society can lead us to believe certain myths that relationships are easy and once we meet 'the one' then we will be complete. In reality, a perfect partner is unlikely to exist, almost all couples have disagreements at times and things are not always straight forwards and easy going. Relationships all have unique challenges and strengths.
Psychological therapy for couples can be helpful in addressing a wide range of relationship issues such as feeling unsure about what you want, managing conflict, feeling disconnected or resentful and coping with difficult life events.
The benefits of talking things through together in couple therapy can include learning to understand each other better, an awareness of unhelpful patterns, improved communication skills and useful strategies for resolving conflict. Identifying strengths as a couple and learning how to build upon these together can help you to feel more connected and resilient to life's pressures together.
